Relocation – Entertainment

While our towns are small, we find that there is always more to do than we can find time to enjoy. Here is an idea of some of what these towns offer in the way of entertainment.

In addition to easily being able to reach Manhattan via train or driving, our area has a wide range of local entertainment. Our towns are home to several celebrities who occasionally perform locally, often at fund raising events.

Each town has a number of restaurants offering a wide variety of food and each has a first run movie theatre. Montclair also offers two art film theatres and the Montclair Art Museum.

South Orange has the South Orange Performing Art Center (SOPAC), which has featured performances by Dionne Warwick, Phoebe Snow, Paula Poundstone, Judy Collins, Sweet Honey and the Rock, and many others. They also have the Baird Center with an Art Gallery and entertainment for all ages.

You will find more entertainment in Maplewood at the Burgdorf Cultural Center and additional entertainment scattered through the town at various points during the year. On the 4th of July in Maplewood, the day starts very early in the morning with events that include a Circus that comes to town every year.

Millburn is home to the Papermill theatre which offers plays, musicals and children's theatre.

West Orange has Jazz at Cecil's and for the kids, the Turtle Back Zoo and ice skating arena is always fun.

Throughout the summer, the towns offer all sorts of entertainment in the local parks including summer concert series. One year, Janis Ian was one of the performers in the South Orange summer concert series outdoors.
